FAQs

What is Brazilian Jiu Jitsu?

Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (BJJ) is a submission based martial art and combat sport. Its main focus is developing a skill of taking an opponent to the ground, controlling using techniques and forcing a submission via joint lock or strangulation.

Do I need any experience?

There is no previous experience needed! The movements and techniques will be taught to best suit you. We have programs for beginners, intermediate and advanced students. If you are new to BJJ, we recommend attending our "Intro to BJJ" class to get started.

Is it safe for my child to train BJJ?

We have kids as young as 3 years old training in our program, they are well supervised under instructors with many years of experience teaching children.

What equipment will I need?

For Gi classes, you will need to purchase a kimono (gi) after your free week trial. For No Gi classes, you will need a compression shirt and shorts. Nothing with pockets or zippers and no jewelry. If you need Gi or No Gi equipment, we sell Forward Kimonos gear.

How do I start?

Feel free to simply walk into the gym during any of our scheduled classes. Our door is aways open for spectators and those wanting to try our program. Upon arriving, you will be greeted and will be signed up for a free-week trial. Please ensure you bring a change of clothes, preferably athletic wear.
