Incredible performance of our wrestling competitive team this week in Hamilton and Brampton! We had great training sessions with Team Discipline and McMaster University Wrestling team followed by 3 competitions in 3 days. The Matmen Classic, hosted each year in Brampton Ontario, is one the largest and most prestigious youth wrestling tournaments in Canada with over 700 registrations from every province and territory. It is known as the “Unofficial Nationals.” WAMMA NexGen athletes managed to bring home many medals in several divisions; U17 48 kg - Gold U17 71 kg - Silver U19 51 kg - Silver In the rookie division we won a silver and 2 bronze medals. It was quite an experience for these young men to travel and live together for a whole week, to train with an elite university team, to manage their time so they can do school work and to experience this kind of success on the mat. We are all very proud of how these athletes are representing Manitoba on a national and international level.
