West van Karate Academy
At West Van Karate Academy we treat everyone in our dojo like family, and believe this is the way all martial arts schools should operate. Each of our members is treated with kindness and respect, and as a result each member treats others the same way (it's contagious! ). We believe in leading by example. Not just the 'do as I say' ideal, but actually the 'doing what I am doing'. This is why all of our instructors are not only elite level competitive athletes who have been training for many years, but also positive role models for students young and old.

The other has benefited greatly from having Sensei Matt as a great role model, increased coordination, flexibility and general fitness.
Training twice a week, he has not only honed his karate skills but also formed invaluable friendships that supported him through numerous competitions and day-to-day challenges.
Matt has created an inclusive, welcoming and encouraging environment where students learn valuable life skills, stay fit and have fun doing so.
Would never trade the experiences made here for anywhere else.
Sensei Matt is an incredible role model, he genuinely cares about the kids and I am very grateful to him for all the effort he puts in.

The atmosphere is welcoming and kind, the community is incredible, and the Sensei is the greatest!
Sesai Matt and all of the senpai’s lead from their authentic passion to foster kindness, courage and excellence in all students.
His class is about 50/50 male female, and many of the girls are better than the guys.
